The band, MC & the Mystyx pride themselves in being one of the most
diverse bands in San Antonio.  Although there is a lean toward Classic
Country and Rockabilly music - that is certainly not the only genre you will
hear.  You will hear blues, folk, rock, R&B, and maybe even a Spanish song
in their sets.  The band features Melody Ackerman on lead guitar and Cathy
Ruiz on lead vocals.  They are accompanied by Jim Newell (on bass guitar
and vocals) and Kirk Scott (on drums).

This is a band of seasoned musicians who love playing music.  No stress on
stage - just great music and lots of fun.  The band has been on the music
scene for six years performing at various venues and events in San
Antonio and surrounding areas.

Both Jim Newell and Kirk Scott are veteran musicians who have toured the
USA.  Jim is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.  He is well known in jazz
circles from central Texas  to San Diego and Boston for his banjo and guitar
contributions with Jim Cullum's Dixieland Jazz band and the Alamo City Jazz
band.  As the bassist in the band, he is a critical part of the band's rhythm
section.  Local drum guru and entrepreneur, Kirk Scott, is known
throughout the USA as founder/owner of the first professional drum shop in
South Texas, Kirk Scott's Drum City in San Antonio.  Kirk also toured the USA
with blues/country artist such as - Scott Gale, Jova Kamires, and Bernice
Cortez, to name a few.  

Together, Jim and Kirk are the power-house rhythm section - that along
with the dynamic vocal of Cathy and strong guitar solos of Melody -  keep
audiences engaged and grooving.  Check out their schedule and come on
